Flagship event

An annual conference on the infrastructure Nigeria needs

Our flagship event is an international conference for everyone involved in the planning, research and development, design, implementation, financing and use of engineered systems and facilities.

It focuses on the industries and sectors that add value to the Nigerian economy: a platform for initiatives that create jobs and build capacity, and for strategic advice on policies to attract foreign investment into Nigeria. In 2022 it ran as the Annual Infrastructure Conference, a forum for high-level dialogue on how to deliver, operate and maintain the infrastructure Nigeria needs.

Renewable Energy and the Development Prospects for Nigeria

EFN's Annual Infrastructure Conference 2022 examined what the energy transition means for Nigeria — the opportunity costs for an oil- and gas-rich economy, and the case for solar and wind.

  • Africa is the least industrialised continent and has contributed very little to climate change, yet African countries including Nigeria are among the most vulnerable to it.
  • Achieving carbon-reduction goals is a significant challenge where access to finance and technology is limited.
  • Presentations focused on solar and wind technologies and the benefits of the climate agenda for Nigeria.

From nuclear power to community wind

Technical visits take members out of the conference room and into working infrastructure, from nuclear generation in Suffolk to community-owned solar and wind near Swindon.
